Some of you have probably read about this or even experienced a breakdown among your friends because of it:
A Harley in the workshop with pulled-off pulley bolts.
If you haven't heard about it, consider yourself lucky because the damage can be significant.
The problem with pulley screws is that they can come loose without you noticing - without warning and without an indicator light coming on. If the screws come loose and dig into the swingarm, serious damage will occur. Take a look at the pictures to get an idea.
What do you think will happen if the rear wheel locks on the highway or when driving quickly?
Imagine what it would cost to buy a new swingarm, rear wheel and pulley - not to mention the hardware and labor.
The damage can run into thousands and is often associated with numerous problems such as roadside assistance, towing and interrupted vacation trips. But that doesn't have to be the case if you know how to protect yourself permanently.
You have the choice: wait until your Harley suffers such damage and the season is literally over - not to mention the financial aspect.
When I disassembled a Milwaukee Eight model for the first time in 2018, I couldn't believe my eyes: the difference between the diameter of the screws and the pulley holes was 2.6 mm.
Take a look at the pictures for yourself (at the bottom)
It was known that the play was also quite high in previous models such as Twin Cam or EVO and that major damage had already occurred because the screws came loose despite Loctite and the correct torque.
So I started looking for a solution to secure the screws. Not necessarily like the moped with a sheet metal - that looks too cheap and bending the tabs could also damage the paint.
After 1 1/2 years of experimentation, countless prototypes and many thousands of trouble-free kilometers, the Maxspyder was created - a really well thought-out part.
5 unique features of the Maxpyder are:1. Bolt on!
2. Nothing is changed and nothing changes in the overall height/depth of the screws,
the pulley or chainring...so don't worry, the part won't touch anything.
3. Permanently secure the 5 pulley screws without damaging them
4. Reusable at any time
5. Can be used for pulley pulleys and chainrings
So, you have the choice between the fear that the screws will get stuck in the swing arm at some point and the damage will quickly run into the thousands... or the Maxspyder... where this can never happen and which is also quite well done for the eye.

Spoked wheels all models and years of manufacture from 1999
Except Touring from 2008, they don't need a Maxspyder because the pulley is mounted in rubber.

A particularly commendable aspect that should be emphasized is that all parts of the Maxspyder system are "bolt on", i.e. plug & play. No changes need to be made – no drilling, no flexing. The width of the motorcycle also remains unchanged; everything remains as it is.
Harley Davidson Sprocket Lock System The introduction of the Maxspyder system marks a significant advance in motorcycle maintenance and safety. This system provides a reliable and hassle-free solution for securing pulley bolts - a topic well-known among Harley-Davidson riders.
The pictures in the gallery impressively illustrate what can happen when you are traveling without a Maxspyder. They show the possible consequences if you think you have to drive without this safety device - a risk that must be avoided.
So the choice is yours:
Either you invest in a Maxspyder and never have to worry about the pulley screws coming loose again, or you opt for visual "bling bling" and pray for the best for every ride.
The Maxspyder is not only an investment in the reliability and safety of your motorcycle, but also a contribution to peace and serenity on every tour. With this system you can concentrate on what's important: the pure enjoyment of driving, without the constant worry of potential technical problems.
In the world of Harley-Davidson, the Maxspyder is more than just another accessory - it's a crucial step towards a more worry-free and safer riding experience.
