A classic and one of the first forum posts in 2013 still hot,
not just at Sportstern but across all Harley models.
Please note that on some models the box does not sit in the places shown.
But it's still the same box
A Ni-MH battery like the one found in the alarm system has a natural self-discharge of 3 to 4% / day and therefore 20 to 40% / month.
It therefore doesn't last forever: the average lifespan is 500 charge/discharge cycles with normal use and the capacity deteriorates as well as its internal impedance increase.
Now you know why the motorcycle battery is discharging. When the battery of the alarm system has already reached its peak, it draws the juice from the motorcycle battery.
So next time don't fuss about my battery being dead, just change the battery in the alarm system in advance. And for long-term parkers: charger is mandatory in winter. The cold is death
Everyone knows that fucking noise box down there?
Remove plug
Deducted
taking out the box
This is what it looks like, unscrew these 3 screws
unscrew the cover this is the alarm box
This is how you open the battery cover (carefully please)
and in it is the battery of the alarm system that sucks the power out of the motorcycle battery. So change and eat well
It is a Varta battery number: HR 6F22Those and no others! Also no discussions now that there is a cheaper one in Wish
And for long-term parkers: charger is mandatory in winter. No discussion, because mine lasted without a charger last winter. Yes, there is, but no one cares whether 1 in 1000 was lucky.
